INTRODUCTION
Art and Design is taught throughout the school in mixed ability groups. The department has experienced staff and a track record of proven success. This dynamic and fascinating subject offers practical, conceptual and intellectual activity in a predominantly practical context. Students experience analytical thinking, visual perception and an awareness of context through an integrated approach to critical and contextual material

SUCCESS!

The department succeeds at both examination level and on a personal level for each student. In 2004 and 2005 there were 100% pass rates at all levels and 7 As at AS level. 2006 saw 96% pass at GCSE and outstanding A levels. For 2007 the department recorded 100% passes at all 3 levels with 81% A/B grades at GCSE.

  • Many students continue their Art education at Art college
  • We have a broad range of skills taught and are developing further involvement in ICT and printmaking
  • Educational visits are an integral part of our teaching
  • Constant monitoring and target setting are built in to our courses
