We are delighted you are considering Royal Russell School for boarding.

We hope that our website and prospectus will give you an idea of what Royal Russell can offer in terms of facilities and educational opportunities but we should be very pleased to answer any questions you may have.  Please contact Admissions.

If you live overseas but have the opportunity to visit the UK, please contact us to arrange a visit during your trip so that you can truly experience the atmosphere and ethos of our school.  You will have much to discover and consider when choosing a boarding school and we are here to help you.

Open Morning
This is held in the Autumn Term and offers a chance to visit the school for an informal viewing. No appointment is required, all teaching departments are represented. Our next Open Morning is on Saturday 22 September 2012 from 8:30am to 1:00pm. 

Sixth Form Open Evening
If you are looking for a challenge, Royal Russell Sixth Form offers some very special opportunities both with and beyond the academic curriculum. Our Sixth Form students enjoy the choice of 24 different subjects at AS and A level and study in a beautiful campus with the very latest facilities as they prepare for university life. With 180 students our Sixth Form is large enough to provide exciting and challenging co-curricular opportunities and students enjoy developing their skills in sport, music, and drama alongside the leadership opportunities provided by the CCF and the Model United Nations.

We are academically ambitious for each of our pupils and our outstanding results at A level reflect the 'added value' we offer, often boosting our candidates performance by a number of grades. This success leads to strong university applications and an enviable record in placing students at their top UCAS choice.

Our Headmaster, Chris Hutchinson, looks forward to welcoming you to our Open Evening and explaining the many benefits of being part of our forward looking community. You will then have the chance to discuss your A level choices with our highly qualified staff.

Personal Visits
Come and see us on a normal working day to take a close-up look at Royal Russell in action.  Visit one of our student Houses and hear about the outstanding tutorial and pastoral system that we offer.  Personal visits can be arranged by appointment throughout the year for individual families or small groups.  Tours are given by the Admissions Department and you will also be able to have a meeting with the Headmaster, Head of Sixth Form or one of our senior staff.

Cambridge House
Cambridge House is one of the two residences for boys who board at Royal Russell. Each year we have about 40 boarders from all over the world.



Oxford House
Oxford House is one of the two boarding houses for boys at Royal Russell. We have up to 35 boarders each year from many countries of the world.



Queen's House
Queens House is the residence of all girl boarders in our school. Each year we have about 60 boarders and a number of  'day students' (girls from the local area) who are also members of the House. Activities During the Week
During the week there are many activities for boarders and day students to join in together - no-one could possibly do everything.  There is so much to choose from, for example....


Weekend Activities
Boarders have some free time at the weekend, for going out, relaxing, shopping, playing, meeting friends, doing their own thing.........


Catering & Sample Menu
In September 2009, The Royal Russell Catering Team were proud to move into their new purpose built department. With a larger main production kitchen, a more spacious dining area as well as a fabulous servery area, we have really been able to let our passion for food come alive. Furthermore in April 2010, we opened our Sixth Form Café, specially designed for our Sixth Form community.


English as a Foreign Language

Introduction The EFL department prepares students for several internationally recognised examinations: UCLES/British Council IELTS International English Language Testing System - Academic Module UCLES IGCSE in ESL International GCSE in English as a Second Language (Extended Curriculum) Students who do not have English as their first language are made aware that a recognised English Language qualification is an entrance requirement for most colleges and universities in the United Kingdom. The IELTS Academic Module and IGCSE in English as a Second Language fulfil this requirement and provide an alternative to GCSE English Language, which can often prove difficult for non-native English speakers. Every effort is made to provide each student with a suitable English qualification by the time they leave the school.

Guardians
When parents of boarders reside overseas a Guardian must be appointed. This is an extremely important role and we request that you contact the school in order to make sure that the highest standards are maintained.
