Business Studies involves a broad range of intellectual activity from group discussion, through report writing to accounting and finance. Modern Businesses are investigated to analyse the reason for their success or failure.

Business Studies enhances:

  • Communication - both oral and written
  • Numeracy - Accounting and Market Research
  • Literacy - report writing at GCSE and A Level
  • Computing skills - use of spreadsheets, word processing, graphs and use of the internet
  • Analytical and evaluation skills
  • Young Enterprise is run through the department. Students work in teams and form their own limited company. Over the years we have been awarded the Best Business in the area on several occasions

FEATURES

Business Studies is taught at both GCSE and A level. Each level consists of a number of modules: Marketing, Accountancy, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, External Factors and Objectives and Strategy. All courses require pupils to investigate live business issues. The department is proud of its exam results. In the last six years we have had a 100% pass rate at A Level. Many pupils continue their studies at University and A Level forms a solid foundation for professional examinations.
