Curriculum and AS/A Level Courses
A levels are divided into two parts. In Year 12 students will study the Advanced Subsidiary. In most subjects this will consist of two units (modules) examined at an intermediate level between GCSE and the full A level. In Year 13 a further two units are studied to form the second part (A2) of the full A level.

It is likely that your first three subjects will be complementary, (e.g. Maths, Physics, Chemistry, or English, Drama, Media Studies). You may wish to consider a contrasting subject as your fourth choice (to AS level only). For those with a straight Science combination, this may be a language or a practical creative subject, and vice versa.

Royal Russell Exam Performance 2011
Once again our pupils have excelled in the public examinations held this summer.
Year 13 recorded the School's highest ever A*/A/B rate at just over 72%, with a 100% pass rate. This level of success enabled all university applicants to be accepted at the university of their choice. Year 12 gained the highest A/B rate ever. Year 11 achieved a pass rate in excess of 96%, with 42% of all subjects taken recording an A*/A grade. These pupils will be eligible for a range of Academic Scholarships as they move into the Sixth Form at Royal Russell.
