Volcanoes in Southern Italy - Memorable sights!

SPECIAL FEATURES

Geography is taught throughout the school and this year was, once again, the most popular option at GCSE with 80% of Y9 opting for it. Fieldwork is an integral part of each Key Stage with exciting, varied and motivating residential trips. Once again ‘The Volcanic Experience’ allowed 40 students to sample the delights of Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii and the stunning Amalfi coastline - a trip they will never forget! Next summer, the 6th form geographers will experience the amazing scenery of Iceland as the Geography department heads off to a new destination.

The department is proud of its exam results - in 2006 100% passed GCSE geography and a superb 75% achieved A*, A or B grades, with 25% achieving the A*. Our A Level students achieved a 100% pass rate with 17 of the 18 passing at A-C. Many go on to study geography/geology at a higher level. These graduates, with their numerous skills, are highly sought after, often taking top jobs in a wide range of professions.
