This year’s AGM was held before the Annual Dinner at 6.30 pm on Saturday 24th November 2007 in the Library at Royal Russell School.

A copy of the Minutes is available to download here.

At the meeting, the Auditors stated their intention to stand down after the next AGM, and we would welcome nominations for these two posts. The Committee has met four times during the last year and many issues have been discussed and resolved at these meetings. We would be delighted to welcome Old Russellians who would be willing to sit as just members of the Committee in the future.

We sadly said farewell to Keith and Rosemary Angel after many years (since they left school in 1944 and 1951 respectively) of attending O.R. functions and having held many offices on the O.R. Committee. We would like to publicly thank them both for all their time and efforts over the past 50+ years. We are delighted that Brian Angel will be staying on to keep us on the ‘straight and narrow’!

The Society ’s Annual General Meeting was held in the Library of Royal Russell School on Friday 24th November 2006 at 6.30pm, just prior to the Annual Dinner at 7.30pm. A copy of the Minutes are downloadable here.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Steering Committee stood down and a nomination was received from an Old Russellian to assume the vacant post of Chairman of the Old Russellians Society

The Committee meets three times a year and is instrumental in putting forward the OR view on issues discussed at those meetings.  Members are welcome to put their names forward for election at the next AGM of Officers and Committee, but we would also welcome nominations from Old Russellians who would be willing to sit as just members of the Committee.  The Chairman of the Steering Committee has found such members of the committee invaluable to talk over subjects and to get an OR view.

Nominations for Chairman or any of the officers, or nominations as general members of the committee should be notified to the OR Correspondent at least twenty four hours before the next AGM.  In exceptional circumstances nominations may be received after that time.

To help the Old Russellians Society and provide a point of focus at the school for Old Russellians, the school has funded two part time appointments: Old Russellians Correspondent, Julia Powell, and Membership Secretary, Sue Tanner.

OR DayMany of you will remember Julia Powell who retired from teaching at the school in summer 2005, after 35 years as Head of Girls' PE. She has taken on the role of OR Correspondent with the aim of providing a point of focus at the school. We hope through her to foster good relations with ORs in general and to encourage links with individual ORs.

Sue TannerSue Tanner, as Membership Secretary, now manages and updates the database of members. She also follows up enquiries and assists the OR Correspondent.

Email addresses for both Julia and Sue can be found on the Contacts Page

When you ask the OR Committee for details of another OR you wish to contact you will be asked for your date of birth for identification and security. The Committee will then make the contact and ask the OR concerned to contact you. The same applies to others should anyone wish to contact you.
