Message from Chairman

The Chairman was delighted to announce that, at the January 2009 meeting of the Committee for The Old Russellians, a decision was made that from September 2009 the annual subscription for membership would cease to exist.  All current members would, therefore, now automatically be considered Life Members of The Old Russellians, and enjoy all the privileges of membership.

O.R. Committee

The O.R. Committee meets three times a year for the day to day running of the Society and once a year at the AGM.  The role of the Committee member is to attend all meetings for which they are able, and provide a very small amount of help when required.  More importantly, the making of decisions in order for your Society to run as you would wish.  The meetings are all held at the school, we provide tea, coffee and biscuits, and each meeting takes no more than two hours.  Please join us!

Donations and Bequests
A number of Old Russellians and ex-staff have asked for clarification regarding donations and bequests, and below is the extract from a previous newsletter which explains the position. Royal Russell is no longer part of the original charitable trust (Textile Industry Children's Trust).

Any Old Russellian wishing to leave a bequest to benefit the current school and pupils should use the term 'Russell School Trust' (not RRS) in their Will to avoid any future confusion. Please contact the Operations Director at school should you require further information.

Become a Part of History

There is an opportunity to become part of the history of the school by sponsoring a new table in our brand new building. For more information, please contact Sue who will be happy to send you the paperwork for this. The old dining room tables gave us good service having been purchased in 1926, and we have replaced them with others in keeping with the Sir Aston Webb architecture.

We have chosen tables and benches made from solid oak and we believe they will serve many generations to come. We are offering you the opportunity to sponsor a plaque on the table, celebrating the time you spent at Royal Russell, at a suggested contribution of £50. It is also possible to sponsor a whole table and have a specially designed plaque for a suggested contribution of £500. Please click here for further details.
