Welcome

"There is a strong parents’ association, the ‘1853 Society’, which the school fully supports".
ISI Report 2010

Royal Russell School Parents' Association is known as the ‘1853 Society' – 1853 being the year the school was created.

The 1853 society exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially. In brief 1853 aim to promote a programme of fund raising and social events such as: Christmas Fair, Quiz Night, Car Boot Sales, Uniform Sales and much more.

All parents or guardians of pupils and staff of the school are eligible to be Members of the Association.

If you would like to know more about getting involved with our committee please contact me.

Role of the Committee
The Committee meet on a regular basis usually once or twice per term, with smaller working groups meeting as necessary to organise our bigger events.
Our role is to:
  • Support the School in all its endeavours
  • To harness the skill base of the parent body to help achieve this aim through educational, fundraising and social events.

Getting Involved
Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is invaluable.  It really is a case of ‘many hands make light work'.  It doesn't matter if you can't help on a regular basis, or even if you can't come into school.  Much of the work can be carried out at home if 30 minutes or so is spared, for example, baking cakes and wrapping gifts.  We really couldn't achieve what we do without the unseen ‘army of help' that exists in school.
