At Royal Russell we understand and celebrate the fact that great education does not begin and end in the classroom.  We would like to encourage the children to participate in as many of the activities as they feel able.  For children in Year 5 and 6 especially, it will however be important to balance their involvement with the expectations of homework.  A new selection of activities will be offered at the start of every term.

On nights when your child does not want to stay for an Activity, we will be providing a supervised homework session.  Activities and homework will be followed by Tea, for those children wishing to stay until 5.30pm.  Children will need to inform their Class Teacher at Registration each morning, if they intend to stay for an afternoon activity

  • The activity lists will be published on the notice board in the lobby area with all the relevant information pertaining to venue and collection times.
  • At morning registration your child will still need to let their class teacher know if they are staying for ‘Prep and Tea’ and what time you expect to collect them. This will remain a vital part of our procedures to ensure that after normal school hours your children are fully supervised at all times.

I hope that you and your children will continue to gain enormous benefit from the programme and I must thank all the staff for giving up their time to run the clubs.

The library will be open from 3.30 -3.45 pm every day except Monday.

  • Chess Club attracts an extra charge to be paid to the Chess coach direct
  • Pupils must be able to swim at least 25 metres to attend Swimming Squad
  • PUPILS ATTENDING ANY CLUBS IN THE SPORTS HALL  OR LEISURE  SWIMMING MAY NOT STAY FOR TEA - they are not able to return to the Junior School in time to go the Dining Hall.

If you have any questions concerning Extra-Curricular Activities then please email Mrs Ingrams at kingrams@royalrussell.croydon.sch.uk
