This has been another busy and successful year in Buchanan House.

At the Christmas Fair, helped by the generosity of parents, we ran a wonderfully-stocked tombola stall that raised almost £150  for House funds.   The end of term was celebrated with party games suited to all ages, degrees of creativity and agility.  One game involved picking up a box from the floor with the teeth.  Some competitors managed to bend themselves into awe-inspiring contortions in pursuit of a prize!

February saw the girls in Buchanan take part in a  unique event, the Bounceathon.  This involved them bouncing through the night for Cancer Research UK.  Guest appearances by   the Headmaster and many staff  provided great entertainment and photo opportunities!

This year we changed the venue for our Spring Concert and laid out tables bistro-style in Great Hall.  There were some excellent performances on keyboard, piano and clarinet, together with vocal  solos and duets and a dance routine by a talented Year 9 group.    Loveday Weller and Torie Jordan were both to make their last appearances in the House Concert, having performed in every one since they joined in Year 7.  My thanks go to Torie for putting together a super programme.

The girls have done well in all the inter-house competitions and thanks go to all who competed.  On the sporting front we have, yet again, been very successful,  but the overall Winners Shield relied on the results of the last event, the junior athletics.  After a closely-contested competition, Buchanan topped the points table and walked away with the Winners Shield and nine other cups on Royal Russell Day.  Congratulations go to Alvina Benjamin-Taylor for, once again, being awarded the Victrix Ludorum, and many thanks to her and Samantha McIntyre for the role they played as House Sports Captains.  Well done to all the girls for a super effort and another great achievement!

My report would not be complete without a word of thanks to Alice French, who has been an outstanding Head of House, and to the tutors for their continued hard work and commitment.
