The new school year brought a new building for St. Andrews House as we moved into the accommodation previously occupied by Crispin. Over the summer, following a lick of paint, new film posters, pool tables and sofas were moved in, and the house was ready for the .boys

Tug Of War

Ian Parry did an excellent job running House sport this year, although we didn’t have much luck in the House Competition. Despite many fine performances and a number of second places in the Easter term, we managed only one cup, for junior indoor hockey,  collected by the captain, Anish Mahidharia, on Royal Russell Day. Still, there were many fine performances by the boys and we hope that the triumphant victories for both the Junior and Intermediate Tug of War teams point to  greater success next year.

We managed to raise almost £250 at the Christmas Fair this year and spent some of the money setting up a DVD library and some on our tenpin bowling trip.

St. Andrews students have taken a leading role in the musical life of the School and we really saw their talent in our house concert in April. Staff, parents, family and friends watched wonderful performances by Albert Aka and Darrel Shand on piano, Selven Shumoogam on violin, Alex Cast, Matt Walters, Joel Rhule-Samuel and Josh Wilkins on guitar and, on vocals, Ben Henning, Ben Edwards, Jonny Verrell and Sam Infield. Many thanks to Darrel for helping to organise the concert.

It was great to see Ben Henning heading the cast of the school play, with other fine performances by Joel Rhule-Samuel and Henry Bax. Ben, along with Daniel Gordon, also did a great job representing the House on the Food Committee,  while  Jack Stanley was again active in the Student Council.

Goodbye and good luck to the Year 13s who have served the House so well, especially the very supportive Head of House, Philip Stainer.   I should like to thank all the staff who worked so hard for the House this year: Mr Dear,  Mr Endersby, Mr Bueno, Ms Sheldon and Mr Watkins.
