It has been another successful year for Hollenden. We have performed well in the maths, language and various other competitions of the house activities’ cup. We managed to stay in the lead for most of the year, however Queen’s unfortunately pushed us to second place in the penultimate competition, due to their magnificent performance in the drama. This meant that we entered the quiz bowl as joint second. Unfortunately St Andrews managed to out perform us to deny us the cup. The new intake to Yr 7 have settled in well into the house and have become fully integrated into the community. Sharing a large room with Yr 8 has ensured their ability to find their way around the senior school easily and gain knowledge of how to stay out of trouble. There have also been some notable performances from individuals. Alice has impressed everyone with her determination and willingness to participate in house events and Apollonia also contributed with an excellent performance in the house swimming event. The Christmas fair was a great achievement. Hollenden hosted a sale of homemade biscuits thanks to Lauren, Natasha and Becky and also sold handmade Christmas cards which were designed and produced by Lucy Arron. Our card making theme ran on into February where various cards were designed and made again by Lucy and sold for Valentine’s day. The money from this went towards the Magnet High School in Kenya. We would also like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to Miss Missan and her husband, on the birth of her new baby girl. We look forward to her return in the Autumn. At the end of the summer term we bid a sad farewell to Mr Baron who has been poached by Oxford house. The girls in the house would like to say thank you for all his support and help that he has given to them and the house over the past two years. Sarah Benton
