Awards become corroded, friends gather no dust – wise words from the great Olympian Jesse Owens, which sum up the past year for the housemates in Keable.

Whilst we were successful in a few competitions, this was less important compared to the spirit and togetherness of the House as a whole, which was first class.

We welcomed a number of newcomers into the House this year and the majority of Keable boys made their mark in sport, music, drama, MUN and CCF.

In a number of the House competitions, we didn’t always lose the match, we just ran out of time! Karl did a fine job organising our teams and time was certainly on our side for the victorious seniors in Badminton, Cricket, Indoor Hockey and Tennis. The juniors have much potential, and with greater experience their time will come.

Congratulations to:

  • Mattie Palmer for winning the John Keable Cup for contribution to House sport.
  • Edmund Peppitt for his performance as Scrooge in ‘A Christmas Carol’
  • Jamie Butler for winning the Intermediate Cross Country and running the fastest ‘Hall of Fame’ time.
  • Gudrat Guluzade for winning the Chess competition.
  • Ben Flint, Dominic Bishop and Sam Williams for representing Croydon Schools at Football.
  • Prize-winners – Karl Mason, Bill Nicholson, James Dunn, Robert English, Edmund Peppitt, Graziano Battistel and Sam Williams.

Thanks to:

  • Bill Nicholson as Head of House.
  • Karl Mason as Head of Sport.
  • Matthew Slim for continuing to represent the House on the Student Council.
  • An excellent bunch of tutors – Dr Cunningham, Mr Marshall, Mrs Culbert and Mr Stanley.

Good luck and best wishes to Dr Cunningham on his retirement and thanks for all your hard work as House Deputy in Keable over the years.
