The idea for the Queen’s House Charity Fashion Show came instantly. What was once a figment of the imagination began to achieve realisation, after much stress, confusion and sheer turmoil. The event took place on Thursday 15th March 2007 from 7pm – 8.30pm and the proceeds went to the NSPCC. We were lucky enough to make £484, not only from the tickets sold but from the donated Harrods items that were raffle prizes. The raffle was only made possible thanks to Mrs Cassim who organised it with Ms Susan Barrowman.

It took just under ten weeks to organise all the outfits the models would be wearing. As nervous as they were, all of them survived and it is only because of their effort and time that the night was possible. As the date loomed closer, we all felt unprepared and there seemed to be one obstacle after another appearing as quickly as one problem was solved. When the week of the fashion show arrived, girls perfected their walks under the critical eye of the Oxford boys, who managed to keep spirits high. On the night, after a prayer, or five, we were ready to start and as the lights came on, the music started. Once Jonny Greenland and Gaby Zoccola began their introductions as hosts, everything seems to fall into place. During the interval, wardrobe changes backstage were a sight to remember. Scarves and make up flying through the air, models calling out for items that had grown legs accompanied by ominous ripping sounds that sent shivers down our spines. Outside however, guests enjoyed snacks and took the opportunity to buy tickets for the Harrods raffle.

The chaos was covered by the confidence and excitement that glowed from the models and our hosts. South London’s Finest wooed the crowd with two of their best songs. Rosie Billington and Bernita Shaw sang beautifully and the belly dancers gave Shakira a run for her money.

United, the performers and models made the night one to remember.

Of course without the organisation skills of many teachers and students, we would not even have had the fashion show, so thank you very much to Mrs Cassim, Mrs Davenport, Ms Cripps, Mr Selby, Mrs Thomas-Webb, Mr Baron, Mr Moore, Mrs Hards, Mr Palmer, Mrs Pearce, James Dunn, Tsidi Dagadu and Jonny blows who took time out of their busy schedules to make the event possible.
