‘How many of each animal did Moses take onto the ark?’ - the last tie breaker question in the last competition of the activities cup. St. Andrews’ hopes of victory in both the inter-house quiz bowl and overall winner of the school activities cup rested on Richard, Henry, Josh and Joel. ‘None’ they said and we had won - a great finish to an excellent year! St. Andrews of course excels in breeding the Renaissance man. Witty, intelligent – nine of the twenty one A level prizes were won by our boys; natural leaders – Ben Edwards head of school; quick learners – Robert Marcuccilli and Michael Lawrence winning CCF cadet awards; fine singers and musicians; talented actors –thanks to Aaron Barber second in the drama competition with fine performances by Lewis Irani, Jack Stanley and Jonny Verrell excelled in the school play, and outstanding individual sportsmen – Ollie Lane winning Victor Ludorum on Sports Day and Danny Gordon was awarded ‘best contribution to school sport;. Jonny Greenland did an excellent job as Head of House this year and Hardeep Rayatt (with Soner Kemal’s help) was an inspirational Head of Sport. Not our finest year for team sport but we gained two cups, one in junior hockey and most fittingly the Judith Chapman Tug of War cup. A few Year 9 students produced a moving chapel presentation on the problem of AIDS in Africa following which over seventy pounds was raised for both the Terence Higgins Trust and the school project in Kenya. We also managed to raise almost two hundred and fifty pounds at the Christmas Fair for the house and spent some of the money putting up an aerial on the house roof and some on another successful house ten pin bowling trip. St. Andrews students have taken a leading role in the musical life of the school and we really saw the full talent of the students at our house concert in April. Staff, parents, family and friends watched wonderful performances by Lewis Irani on clarinet, Luke Atkinson on trumpet, Matt Walters and Joe Davies on guitar with Alex Philips, Ben Edwards and Jonny Verrell singing. Many thanks must go to Ben Edwards for helping to organise the concert and to Jonny Blows who also proved an excellent house rep on the school council. Goodbye and good luck to the Year 13s who have served the house so well. Many of them had their formative years in Crispin and proved themselves perfect ambassadors for both Crispin and St. Andrews. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the staff who worked so hard for the house this year, guiding the students and supporting many of the different sports and activities. Good luck to Mr. Watkins and Ms Culvert in their new houses – and thanks again to Mr. Bueno, Mr. Endersby and Mr. Dear. Simon Keable-Elliott
