BASKETBALL

 UNDER 16
This was a mixed season for the team. There are many promising players in this year group and a number also played for the Under-19 side. The season started slowly with two defeats against a very strong Alleyn’s team and then a narrow loss to Trinity. This proved to be a turning point for the boys, who trained hard and started to show some real promise. Four straight wins, culminating in a 50-29 home win against a very tall Dulwich team, lifted spirits and improved the confidence of many of the players. Hao Wu, Tsidi Dagadu and Daniel Gordon all improved greatly during this season and will prove to be major players next season for the senior side.

UNDER 19
The statistics -- played 12, won 7 and lost 5 --  made this another successful season for our senior boys’ team. This was a particularly promising performance for a team that worked hard throughout the season and was made up predominantly of students in Years 11 and 12. Alleyn’s were by far the strongest side in the competition, which meant our games against Dulwich College were going to be our biggest challenge in attempting to reach the play-off finals. Both games were very close, and the season hinged on our final match, which we needed to win by a margin of five points or more to progress to the finals. Star performances from Tsidi Dagadu and Han Wu as our forward players and Stanley Li and Chawalit Wiriyawattana as our guards enabled us to tie the game in the last seconds of play to send it into overtime. Unfortunately, we eventually lost by six points. With virtually the same side this year, we will be the team to beat.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

The girls’ Under-19 team has had a successful year. We played against Virgo Fidelis, St Mary’s and Alleyn’s. Our opponents had a number of experienced players and our team did their best throughout. We were rewarded with a gloriously tense victory over Virgo Fidelis. Led by our coach Brian Moore, we hope to enjoy another successful season next year.
