Introduction to Upper Juniors
![]() |
Subjects such as Music, Science, ICT and Art are taught in purpose-built and well-equipped rooms by trained specialists. Modern Foreign Languages are taught by a member of the Senior School.
We have excellent facilities for Physical Education, with a magnificent new Sports Hall, swimming pool and games fields.
We share the use, with the Senior School, of the newly built Performing Arts Centre, which was recently opened by HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
We seek to ensure that all children, whatever their background, will achieve their best, in a safe and happy setting. To this end, we use every opportunity to foster and develop individual children's talents and interests. A wide range of co-curricular activities, including sports, music, drama, art, ICT and chess are organised for the children and many of them also take instrumental tuition.
The school was inspected recently by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. The Inspectors were particularly impressed by pupils' achievements, saying that these were “supported by the children's excellent attitudes to learning, their outstanding behaviour and the particularly good relationships they enjoy with both their peers and with their teachers. They are well-motivated and they concentrate and persevere with their work, which they thoroughly enjoy.”
This website seeks to provide you with all you may want to know about Royal Russell Junior School, but, to gain a real feel for its unique atmosphere, we would be delighted if you came to visit us. An appointment can easily be made through our Junior School Office.
Yours sincerely,

Miss H Hughes, Head of Upper Juniors
