Barcelona Trip - June 2011
On Wednesday 22nd June 2011, a group of Year 9s, Ms Missan, Ms Conde and Mr Bueno all boarded the plane to sunny Barcelona. On arrival, the summer sun was overwhelming and the students were excited once they reached the hotel. After their first Spanish lesson, everyone was dressed up for the tapas night where they tried the Spanish delicacies including the famous Spanish tortilla and patatas bravas (spicy potatoes) and even chatted to the locals.
On Friday morning, some of the students had a tour around the town of Rosas, although most of them were more interested in the 21st century boutiques than the architectural delights of 14th century buildings! Other students chose to participate in a game of crazy golf where much talent was revealed. The eventual champion however was Ms Missan who exhibited skills worthy of the American Open. After lunch they eagerly waited for the bus to Aquabrava, the local water park which they thoroughly enjoyed, especially Mr Bueno who spent most of the time scaling the heights of the adjoining rock face so that he could plummet into the pool. During the last evening the students had the opportunity to buy more souvenirs and enjoy the last hours by the coast in the company of their friends.
En route to the airport on Saturday, there was a guided tour of Barcelona, visiting the Parc Güell, the Sagrada Familia and the Ramblas where the students, especially the girls, were happy to be let loose for shopping! After all the exhausting shopping, they all arrived back to the UK, tired but glad to have enjoyed an interesting and cultural experience.
