Music Success in Abundance - May 2012
The Croydon Music Festival is a large annual performing arts festival including all kinds of music, dance, speech and drama. Open to the whole community, anyone can take part. And that is exactly what many of the music students at Royal Russell School did.
Children in both the Senior and Junior school have enjoyed tremendous success but sisters Megan and Kaitlin have done particularly well during this the Croydon Music Festival Centenary Year.
Megan in Year 9 won the Folk Song Under 13s, Voice & Verse U13s (cup), Musical Theatre 12 &13 Years pre 1970 and post 1970, Recital 12 & 13 Years and further to winning first prize and the section cup with a Quartet group they went on to perform at the prize winners ceremony. Kaitlin a Year 12 student, was the winner of the 16 to 18 musical theatre pre and post 1970 group and also the Musical Theatre Section Cup Winner. Both girls have also competed in the Reigate and Redhill Festival and again won numerous singing classes. Kaitlin has been invited to sing at the prize winners concert at the Harlequin Theatre where the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead will be in attendance.
Congratulations to all those you took part enjoying the experience of performing and gaining valuable constructive appraisal from the many professional adjudicators present.
