Russell Reads For Retts! - March 2011

Following the success of last year’s readathon event at Royal Russell School, this year the English department decided to repeat the venture, in aid of the charity Rett UK. Rett UK is the only charity supporting families who are living with Rett syndrome as well as working towards finding a cure.

After half a term of avid reading and enthusiastic encouragement, Years 7, 8 and 9 rose to the challenge admirably once again, raising a grand total of £1,710. A particular mention goes to Phoebe in Year 7, who single-handedly raised £103, and also to 8S who worked brilliantly together to raise a total of £408.90.

All the students who took part in the event will be receiving certificates from Rett UK and will also be mentioned on their website and within their magazine in acknowledgement of their wonderful efforts.

This annual readathon is now a firmly established and highly successful fundraising event within the school and we look forward to continuing the good work next year.
