Viva Valencia MFL Trip - February 2012
The Modern Languages Department at
Royal
Russell
School organised a successful trip to the city of
Valencia for their A level Spanish students. During this trip, the students had the opportunity to explore all aspects of Spanish life including architecture, food and, of course, shopping. The girls were very excited to visit such significant monuments such as the beautiful and historic Town Hall, the impressive cathedral, and main square. They were intrigued and at times bemused by the variety of foods to be found in the local markets, many of which they sampled.
The evenings were lively; the students tasted ‘tapas’ for the first – but not the last – time, and discovered the rich taste of the local chocolate drink. The students enjoyed talking to the friendly citizens of
Valencia and even joined in with the dancing!
On Sunday the students and teachers recovered by visiting the Spa and indulging themselves with some treatments. Once relaxed, they went on to enjoy the magnificent City of
Arts and Sciences and the surrounding green spaces (including a Gulliver’s Travels theme park!). The visit ended with a futuristic 3D cinematic experience where the students learned about the importance of nature – in Spanish, of course!
