A Successful Day for the Young Guitarists in the Bromley Music Festival - March 2011
In all 16 children took part from Years 3 – 6. Most children played solo pieces and also took part in teacher pupil duets. In addition Mr Davies also runs three guitar ensembles, Year 3, Year 4 and a senior Year 5/6 group. All performed on the day to a delighted audience of parents and family members of those taking part.
Highlights on the day were Year 5 Rheanna who came 1st in both her classes, solo and duet playing obtaining a very high “distinction” mark of 92 and winning two gold medals.
Also Jacob of Year 6. He was the proud winner of “best solo performer” in his class on the day and was presented with a cup to keep for the year ahead. He also took home a gold medal with another high “distinction” mark of 91 in his solo class.
Special mention also to Paartha of Year 3. He took a gold medal coming 1st in his class. A great achievement as he only started guitar in September.
Mr Davies said he was particularly pleased with the ensemble performances gaining two “distinctions” and an “honours” marking for the Year 3 boys. He said “group playing is such an important thing in developing confidence and general musicianship skills and the children all seemed to enjoy it so much”.
