Royal Russellian Singer Performs With Carnegie Hall Star - October 2011
|
16 year old Nikita attends Royal Russell School and is a gifted Music Scholar. Amongst her many awards has been the Mayor's Cup at Croydon Music Festival. She has also received a bursary three years in succession from Bromley Music Festival allowing her to attend the highly prestigious European Youth Summer Music Course.
Nikita performed alongside Panos Karan, a well known and widely appreciated pianist, who made his professional debut at the Southbank Centre at the age of 19. Over the past ten years, he has gone on to perform in concert halls all over the world, including in Carnegie Hall in New York. Later in October, Panos is making a return appearance at Carnegie Hall, so this is a unique opportunity for Croydon music lovers to hear an international star on their doorstep.
The concert was held to raise money for the Condor Trust for Education, a charity run by Croydon resident Chris Patrick, which enables children from poor families in Ecuador, South America, to attend secondary school.
“I feel privileged to be sharing a platform with such a renowned musician as Panos Karan” said Nikita, “and am absolutely delighted to be able to help the Condor Trust to give children in Ecuador a chance to go to secondary school.”

About The Condor Trust for Education
The Condor Trust for Education aims to improve the opportunities of children in Ecuador through education and training. We do this mainly by providing financial support to enable children to attend secondary school and to make the most of their educational opportunities, but we also provide materials for primary schools in the rainforest and training for mothers to help them support their own children’s education.
