We Went on a Bear Hunt! - October 2010

After reading Michael Rosen's ‘We're Going on a Bear Hunt', both reception classes wanted to look for bears too. They set off on Tuesday afternoon. It was a warm autumn day and they were all very excited. The first thing they saw was an enormous puddle in the middle of the track and even more exciting was that it was surrounded by thick oozy mud! Of course we all had to see what it felt like and it was indeed oozy!

Uh-uh! A river!
Thick oozy mud

After that they found the swishy swashy grass which was wet and full of mushrooms and slugs.

Long wavy grass
Uh-uh! A forest!

The children sang out the words from the book and continued to search for bears. Further down the track they scrambled down slopes and climbed up hills where the woods became darker. Would there be a bear here? The cave we found was empty, no goggly eyes or shiny wet nose. Roots tripped us up just like in the book. But still no bears! Birds sang and squirrels scampered but no growls. After a long climb up we were back at school.

I have found the Bear!
