Swimming
Our outstanding pool facilities allow our students to further develop their swimming skills at Senior level. In addition to lessons, where the "Rookie Lifeguard" course is followed, there are enormous opportunities for progress. There are leisure sessions, squad sessions and competitions. For families with a strong interest in swimming we are also delighted to offer a special membership of the pool. Please contact Bob Ellis for further details. It is also possible for Senior pupils to train as qualified RLSS lifeguards. Please click here for a 360° Tour.

Cross-Country
Another activity much discussed and remembered by pupils is Cross-Country. Thanks to our beautiful, extensive grounds we are able to run this popular activity entirely within our own boundaries. The full course is just over 1.2 miles long and in the Senior School, the ‘Hall of Fame' is continually updated with the best runners from the past 20 years and counting! For a boy this means running 1 lap in under 10mins (12mins for the girls). All results are eagerly anticipated and the ‘Hall of Fame' is displayed in the Sports Hall.

House Sport
When a pupil joins Royal Russell School they are assigned to a House. This aims to provide them with an extended ‘family' and give them further opportunities to demonstrate skills and development. One way of achieving this is through our broad and varied House Sports Competition. This annual league-based event covers a wide range of sports including Football, Hockey, Basketball, Netball (girls only), Tennis, Swimming, Athletics and Cross-Country. Points are awarded for each event (and in some events for participation too!).
