Curriculum Sport
Sport is an integral part of life at Royal Russell School. Through a combination of well-qualified, experienced staff, excellent facilities, varied opportunities and high expectations all pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.


Fixtures
We play a full compliment of boys' and girls' major games fixtures/tournaments and selected minor sports. Most fixtures are played on a friendly basis, mainly against other independent schools, leading up to more serious league cup and county level competitions by Years 5 and 6.

Ethos
Here at Royal Russell Junior School we encourage the children to participate in a whole plethora of sports both in the curriculum and in the extensive co-curricular activities programme provided. Our aim is to boost self-esteem and confidence at an early age.

Swimming
Our outstanding pool facilities allow girls and boys to rapidly develop their swimming skills. From the age of 3 all pupils have weekly lessons. Initially their ability is assessed and they may begin in the large teaching pool or they may be immediately advanced to the 25 metre pool. Progress is excellent with first rate teaching using the ASA National Swimming Award Programme. Swimming squads for competitions and advanced training begin in Year 1.
