Boarding Admissions

We are pleased to offer boarding places to girls and boys, from age 11 to 18, on the basis of good performance in our entrance tests together with satisfactory school reports/grades.

Once formally registered with us, the student will need to sit entrance tests in English and Maths. We can arrange to send the entrance tests overseas to the student's current school, or the tests can be arranged through the British Council offices.

Visiting Royal Russell

We run open days and personal visits can be arranged by appointment throughout the year for individual families or small groups to come and see our outstanding on-site facilities, and meet our staff and pupils at a mutually convenient time during any working school day.

If you live overseas but have the opportunity to visit the UK, please contact us to arrange a visit during your trip so that you can truly experience the atmosphere and ethos of our school. You will have much to discover and consider when choosing a boarding school and we are here to help you. If this is not possible, interviews can be carried out by SKYPE.

Come and see us on a normal working day to take a close-up look at Royal Russell in action. Visit one of our student Houses and hear about the outstanding tutorial and pastoral system that we offer.

To register with us or to arrange an appointment, please call 020 8657 4433 or email admissions@royalrussell.co.uk

Guardians

If you live overseas something you will need to consider if you are thinking of boarding at any school in the UK is appointing a guardian.

Following the Children Act 2004, the Protection of Children Act 1999 and the Care Standards Act 2000 Royal Russell School, in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of every boarding student, including those over the age of 18, requires parents who do not live in the United Kingdom to appoint a guardian to act on their behalf.  The above legislation protects the rights of children and makes ‘proper and appropriate care’ a compulsory requirement.

During term time the School is legally responsible for each student’s welfare and undertakes parentally designated responsibilities.  However, there are times (eg weekend leave, May bank holiday weekend, half-term breaks, or if a student is suspended or excluded by the School, etc) when the School must be able to hand over parental responsibilities to another adult – the appointed Guardianship organisation/Guardian.

Any student whose parents live overseas must have an adult guardian in the UK who will agree to be responsible for that student on behalf of the parents.  A guardian may be a relative, friend of the family or a guardian agency.

It is essential that a guardian is nominated before the student joins Royal Russell and that we are advised of the guardian’s name, address, and contact details at least a week before the start of term. Students are expected go to their guardian for half-terms and the May bank holiday weekend, unless alternative arrangements have been made in advance.

If you require assistance in appointing a guardian please call 020 8657 4433 or email admissions@royalrussell.co.uk and we will be happy to advise you.
