ROYAL RUSSELL SCHOOL CHARITY DANCE FESTIVAL 2014
The second Royal Russell School Charity Dance Festival, held on Wednesday 24 September 2014, was a huge success generating very positive feedback from external and internal parents, staff and pupils.
The following schools participated in this event:
- Aberdour School
- Bishop Challoner School
- Croydon High School
- Hayes School
- Old Palace of John Whitgift
- Royal Russell School
We were very grateful to Mrs Jill Baldock from the British and International Federation of Festivals, who kindly agreed to be our adjudicator for the second time. Jill offered every pupil both praise and constructive criticism.
Royal Russell School came runners-up in the Solo/Duo Category, but our pupils certainly could not have worked any harder. During the weeks of lunchtime rehearsals, we were very impressed with their work ethic and dedication. They choreographed all the routines themselves and the fact they achieved a 'highly commendable' status is worthy of note.
The students backstage, led by Mr Kieran Taylor (Our Drama Technician), and those on Front of House duties also worked assiduously to ensure the production ran smoothly.
It was a full house which meant we raised over £700 on ticket sales for Hayes School - the overall winners - who chose 'Over the Wall' as their charity. The raffle and wine donations raised nearly £300 for 'Teens :) Unite'; a good start to the 'London Loop Appeal', which Royal Russell School has adopted for its whole school fundraising focus for this year.
The Media Team have produced a recording of the event which you can access using the link below:
We would like to thank our pupils, parents and staff for their support and generosity.
