Gymnastics

In the Junior School we offer two Gymnastics clubs a with an extended session to prepare the gymnasts for the range of competitions we enter. These include a Novice competition against local schools, Surrey Schools events at U9 and U11 level as well as London Region competitions for our advanced gymnasts.

We have great success in the Surrey schools events with both our U11A and B squads finishing 3rd in the Surrey Schools Sports Acro competitions.

Last year we had a mixed team at the National schools team gymnastics finals which is a great achievement.

U9/11 Novice gymnastics competition

12 gymnasts competed at the Surrey schools novice competition. This competition is for pupils who did not compete at the floor and vault competition earlier in the year.

The U9 girls competed their floor routines very well remembering all the skills in order, on the vault they gave it 100%.

The U11’s demonstrated some excellent skills on both the floor and vault and were rewarded for their hard work. RR took all 3 medals on the vault out of 60 competitors and we also picked up 2 floor medals!

Congratulations to: Leilani 1st, Hannah 2nd and Uliana 3rd on the vault and Uliana 2nd and Leilani 3rd on floor!

Surrey Schools Novice Gymnastics Competition

The gymnastics team headed to Priorsfield for the Surrey schools Novice competition. The pupils performed a graded floor sequence and then had the option of vaulting too. After great performances on the floor & vault by all the girls we were delighted with the results. In the Advanced floor group Jasmine finished 1st with Zena in 3rd place. The vault was judged out of all the girls that entered (over 40 girls) and Zena finished in 2nd with Jasmine 3rd!

U11 Surrey Sports Acro

Congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 Gymnastics team who all performed very well at the Surrey Schools Sports Acro Competition.  The girls work in pairs and perform a routine containing 4 skills and 4 pairs balances to a piece of music up to 2 minutes long!

In the B team event the Year 5s held their nerve and balances to secure the bronze with some excellent routines.

The U11A team had a bit more competition, with last years’ experience they knew what they had to do and went out with confident routines, in a very close competition they finished 3rd.

An awesome day! Thanks to Mrs Carmichael and Miss Willis for preparing the team so well.

Gymnastics Assembly

What a fantastic display of skills and teamwork at the Gymnastics assembly. The pupils performed skills, balances, pairs work and tumbles to amaze our audience. Well done to our superstar performers.

Surrey Schools Floor and Vault Competition

The U9 girls showed that all their hard work paid off at the Surrey Schools Competition. On the floor the girls performed minute long sequences incorporating balances, tumbling and dance to a piece of music. Their sequences were fantastic showing huge improvements in skills and confidence.

The girls also had to perform a vault which again they did really well. Mrs Carmichael and I were delighted when the girls were announced in 6th place, a great result in such a high standard of competition, well done.
