Starting and finishing at Royal Russell, the 13.1-mile route took runners on an out-and-back course to Keston Ponds.

The runners included nine Old Russellians who attended the school at the same time as Sadie and none of them had run beyond 10 miles before.

Despite the undulating course and a stiff headwind on the return leg, all the runners – wearing #teamsades t-shirts – completed the challenging route, raising more than £3000 for the charity in the process.

The runners were then treated to lunch in the sixth form café decorated with charity posters created by current pupils.

The OR runners were Ellie Russell, Maddie Steer, Francesca Gallagher, James Dunn, Luke Pullen, Simon Foss, Ryan Walters, James Osbaldeston and Jack Hecquet. Staff runners were Mr Greaves, Mr Marshall, Mr Muir, Mr Stathopoulos and Mr Stanley.

A crew supporting the organisation of the race included Mr Dear, Mrs Pepperdine, Mr Blows, Mr Rocca and Miss Culliford, while Mr Davies acted as a mountain bike sweeper on the course.
