POLITICS STUDENTS ATTEND GLOBAL POLITICS DAY

Royal Russell

On Tuesday March 17th the Year 13 Politics students attended a Global Politics day at Wellington College. This was a fantastic opportunity to look in more depth at some the issues discussed in class this year and to hear three top speakers. The day began with the Director of Liberty Shami Chakrabarti delivering a great speech on Human Rights and their importance in a globalised world. There followed two workshops on Human Rights and Peace and Conflict before Sir Andrew Wood – former UK Ambassador to Russia, and Lord Malloch-Brown – once Deputy Secretary General of the UN made insightful speeches about Russia and Global Governance. All the students took full parts in the workshops and Daniel asked Sir Andrew Wood a good question about the possibility of a EU army.
