Tennis

The school has 12 tennis courts which are used during core PE lessons as well as during Games time and for after-school clubs.   Whether your child is a beginner or more advanced at the game, there is a club for everyone.

We have seen great success in the Croydon Schools Competitions and the future is most definitely bright, with our younger children working on their racket skills from Year 1.

Not wanting to be outdone by the orange tennis team, two red teams went to Reedham Park Tennis club on Thursday afternoon to take part in a qualifier event. Croydon Schools Success for Orange Tennis Team

They will now represent Croydon at the London Schools Games in June!

U9s 2nd at Croydon Schools Tennis Finals

More tennis success for our terrific Under 9 tennis team. Stanley, Georgia , Joshua, and Ellie represented Royal Russell at the finals of the Croydon Schools mini-red tennis on Wednesday. Every player won valuable matches for the team and after 5, closely fought games, the team finished second overall. This saw them head into a closely fought final with The Hayes School. They were a very strong team and we narrowly lost out, however the whole team should be immensely proud of their achievement.

Year 5 and 6 Tennis Team Qualify for London Games

On a wet and windy afternoon at South Croydon Sports Club, our two tennis teams both won their groups in the Orange Tennis Tournament.  This resulted in an all Royal Russell match in the final.

The team of Aaliyah, Zeena, Daniel and Kobi came out on top but everyone played exceptionally well throughout the tournament.

The winning team will now get the opportunity to represent Croydon in the London Games later in the Year.

Croydon Schools Mini-Red Tennis Tournament

Royal Russell entered two teams in the Croydon Schools Mini-Red Tennis Tournament at Virgin Active. Both teams performed exceptionally well throughout and made the semi-finals.

Unfortunately, it was Royal Russell vs Royal Russell in the semi-final and there could only be one winning team. Joshua, Stanley, Ellie and Georgia emerged victorious but every player should be proud of how well they represented the school.
