Boarding Entry

Boarding at Royal Russell

We are happy to work with Agents or families directly to guide you through the admissions process for international and UK students looking for a boarding place.

We offer boarding places from Year 7 upwards. Our modern boarding houses (the boys house opened in 2017 and our girls house opened September 2020), have triple, double and single rooms and also have day students assigned to them to ensure that both boarding and day pupils are fully integrated.

Each house has a housemaster or housemistress, deputy house staff and tutors living with the pupils to provide excellent pastoral care.

If you would like to apply for a boarding place, in the first instance we would ask to see a copy of your latest school report. We would then ask you to complete a Registration Form and pay the registration fee of £150 for a boarding place. Please download the form here

We will then provide all the information you need regarding assessments and interviews. We test and interview all our overseas applicants. Our tests are in English and Maths (for pupils studying the British Curriculum who are looking to board we will also test in Verbal Reasoning). If you are already studying in the UK, we would expect you to come and visit us to take our tests here at Royal Russell. If you are studying abroad, we are happy to send our tests to your agent, current school or the British Council. The interview will be arranged once the tests have been marked and this will be with our Director of International Relations and can be done via skype, WeChat, facetime or whatsapp.

Once this process is complete and if we are able to offer you a place, an Acceptance Deposit is the equivalent of one term’s fees and is payable to secure the place.

Important joining information is sent out in May and this includes Guardian Appointment Forms. We expect all our boarding students to have a UK based Guardian and the responsibilities we expect the Guardian to undertake can be found here.

Royal Russell holds a Sponsor Licence and we are able to provide support and advice for families who require a Visa Sponsor License. Guidance can be found here.

Children settle into life at Royal Russell quickly and easily and enthusiastically embrace their new experiences and routines. Our children are busy, productive and, above all, happy. Our full boarders have the opportunity to join in with regular activities and trips at the weekend. Please click here for examples of our boarding activities.

The Admissions Team are always happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to boarding life at Royal Russell. Please contact us on admissions@royalrussell.co.uk,
