Junior School Languages
Inspiring young minds to become global citizensAt Royal Russell we believe that early language learning opens doors to lifelong opportunities. This is why we offer Spanish lessons from Nursery to Year 6, fostering strong communication skills and a love for languages and cultures.
Learning a new language does more than improve communication skills—it supports cognitive development, strengthens problem-solving, memory, and critical thinking. At Royal Russell, we offer a language-rich environment where students can grow both intellectually and culturally. With lessons taught by native Spanish-speaking teachers, our pupils experience authentic language learning while gaining a deeper understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures. By making language a part of daily routines, we help students become confident, well-rounded individuals prepared to succeed in a global world. Our approach fosters fluency, curiosity, and creativity, shaping them into true global citizens.
Through interactive activities, songs, games, and storytelling, our younger students are introduced to the sounds and basic vocabulary of the Spanish language in a fun and engaging way. As they progress through school, their language skills are nurtured and expanded, with lessons designed to build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Starting in Year 5, pupils will also begin learning French alongside Spanish. This dual-language approach prepares them for the transition to Senior school, where they will continue learning Spanish and French as part of the curriculum. By the time they leave Year 6, our students will have a solid foundation in both languages, giving them the confidence to continue their language learning journey. We are excited to see our pupils thrive as they develop their linguistic skills, broaden their horizons, and gain valuable tools for future success.
