Royal Russell swimming pool was temporarily closed on 20 March because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During the period of closure, we took the opportunity to undertake a major overhaul of the pool, including a refurbishment to the air handling unit and boiler system, a refit of the plant room and associated machinery, installation of pool covers, repairs to the structure of the building and a refurbishment of the changing rooms, showers, toilets, poolside and reception area.
We were due to re-commence our Swim School programme in January 2021, but now that London has moved to Tier 4 the School has taken the decision not to re-open the Swim School until April 2021. Whilst this is disappointing for all involved it is our utmost priority to keep the community safe, and will resume to normality as soon as we are able to. We are aware that government guidelines state that children’s activities under the age of 18 can still take place in Tiers 1- 3, but we feel that our decision is prudent, given the uncertainty we face.
We can assure you that all provisions will be in place for your return for the Summer term. We have implemented a one-way system throughout the facility, increased cleaning, introduced multiple sanitising stations, and staff will be Covid-19 trained to make sure they carry out the appropriate monitoring and cleaning for the safety and wellbeing of all.
We are grateful for your understanding at this very difficult time, and are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to Royal Russell Swim School in 2021.
